Nikon Rumored To Be Launching Two Full-Frame Mirrorless Models

Nikon Rumored To Be Launching Two Full-Frame Mirrorless Models
Nikon and Canon’s glacially-slow move to embrace mirrorless technology in their pro camera lines has not only been an embarrassment, but has cost them increasingly-large chunks of market share as Sony and others have made their mirrorless models highly competitive. So it wasn’t a surprise when Nikon announced it plans a full-frame professional-caliber mirrorless camera body, but a leak this week says there might actually be two different versions. Rumored Specs For Nikon Pro Mirrorless Models The flagship model is rumored to support a 45MP or 48MP sensor, while the second model may have 24-25MP. Both models are supposed to be similar in size to a Sony a7, but with a better grip and better ergonomics.

Early Tests Show AMD Rocketing Past Nvidia in Battlefield V Alpha

Early Tests Show AMD Rocketing Past Nvidia in Battlefield V Alpha
Battlefield 5 is an Nvidia GeForce-sponsored title, but early data suggests that hasn’t hampered Team Red’s performance in head-to-head match-ups. Early data suggests a substantial advantage for AMD, though we’d strongly caution against reading more into it than an interesting look at how performance stacks up in an early iteration of the latest franchise title. PCGamesN didn’t run a full , but they put the RX 580 and GTX 1060 against each other in both DX11 and DX12 in 1080p and 1440p. 2019 Lexus RX 350L Review: Wallow in Luxury, Sometimes Around Sharp Corners

2019 Lexus RX 350L Review: Wallow in Luxury, Sometimes Around Sharp Corners
The Lexus RX 350L, the stretched three-row edition of Lexus’ best-selling midsize SUV, is a fabulously comfortable car for highway cruising and around town. The passengers in the first two rows have first-class seats. Safety features and driver assists are excellent, and the center stack display and optional head-up display are both huge. Lexus outsells its nearest competitors, BMW and Mercedes-Benz, each by 2-1. That is despite a clumsy Remote Touch infotainment controller and handling that’s soft during lane changes and cornering (even on the Sport setting). The long-awaited third-row seating turns out to be suited only for younger children.

Apple Reportedly Dumps Intel’s Upcoming 5G Modem for 2020 iPhone [Updated]
Update: An Intel spokesperson has contacted ExtremeTech with the following comment: ““Intel’s 5G customer engagements and roadmap have not changed for 2018 through 2020. We remain committed to our 5G plans and projects.” Over the last few years, Intel’s mobile communication business has enjoyed significantly higher visibility and revenue thanks to one major customer win in particular: Apple. From the iPhone 7 forward, Intel has provided some of the modems for Apple’s devices, with Qualcomm handling the rest. Apple even goes so far as to disable certain modem features across both device families to keep features equal between them.

MIT Creates Blind Robot That Sees With Its Feet

MIT Creates Blind Robot That Sees With Its Feet
Modern robotics is heavily invested in computer vision systems that aim to let automatons understand the world around them. A project from MIT researchers eschews all that with the Cheetah 3, a robot that . In spite of that, it can maneuver around obstacles, jump on tables, and walk up stairs. The team believes this approach could be less expensive and more effective than complex visual analysis systems that can be easily fooled. As the name implies, the quadrupedal Cheetah 3 is an improved version of an older robot called Cheetah 2. In addition to having more refined software algorithms, the new robot is more flexible with a greater range of motion.

How to Build a Star Trek: The Next Generation Mechanical Keyboard
Star Trek: The Next Generation first aired on TV more than 30 years ago, but it’s held up remarkably well. For myself and many other sci-fi fans, the exploits of the Enterprise-D were part of our formative years. I will always love this series, and I also love . So, why not combine my loves? That’s how I ended up with this LCARS keyboard. Here’s how I built it. The planning Most of my keyboard projects are inspired by a particular keyboard kit or keyset, and this one is thanks to an official re-release of the Star Trek-themed keyset called DSA Galaxy Class.

Intel’s Latest Microcode Update Doc Leaks Upcoming 9th Generation CPUs

Intel’s Latest Microcode Update Doc Leaks Upcoming 9th Generation CPUs
When Intel announced its 10nm process node would be delayed into 2019 — and possibly into later 2019 at that — it punched some significant holes into the company’s product line that are still being sorted out. There’s now evidence that the shakeup could even impact how the company’s 9th generation CPUs are classified and where they fit into the overall product stack. Tech Report Intel’s documented slip-up, and it’s well that they did — the company has since updated its own microcode document and removed the reference to 9th generation CPUs that it previously showed. Here’s the document as it originally appeared:
