On Wednesday, May 1, AMD will celebrate the 50th Anniversary of its own founding. While we lobbied the company to release life-sized cutouts of Jerry Sanders, AMD has opted to actually build products instead. Unlike Intel’s 8086K “Anniversary Edition” from last year, however, the new Ryzen 7 2700X Gold Edition doesn’t have any clock jumps or changes. The only actual benefit of the chip over a standard model is the addition of Lisa Su’s signature on the package and a gold box, available at a $329 MSRP. In addition, a new version of the Radeon VII comes with a red shroud and gold AMD50 packaging, but no signature is mentioned.
Despite hitting creative highs on the original PlayStation under the name Eidetic, Bend Studio has spent much of its time under Sony’s roof working on portable spinoffs for existing franchises. After forgoing the entirety of the PS3 generation, they were finally given the green light for a brand new home console release: Days Gone. This ambitious open world zombie biker game is finally on store shelves, and the critical reactions are all over the road. At our sister site IGN, Lucy O’Brien gave Days Gone an . She found moments of legitimate excitement and awe while escaping a horde of sprinting zombies, but the overall experience is fairly disappointing.

Outside of Washington, or Hollywood, there are few people better qualified than Elon Musk when it comes to moving air. So it was no surprise when Musk said Tesla will develop a quiet, electric — obviously electric — leaf blower. This announcement came in what was one of Tesla’s busiest weeks ever, with a media-analyst “Autonomy Day” update Monday on AutoPilot and self-driving, and then Tesla’s abysmal, red-ink earnings report Wednesday. Others said the had the idea first, shared it with Musk, and called on the Tesla CEO to share credit. That included Rainn Wilson, otherwise known as Dwight Schrute on The Office.
Samsung really doesn’t want you to know that the Galaxy Fold is a badly designed product. Two days after iFixit posted the results of a teardown in which they referred to the Galaxy Fold as both “alarmingly fragile” and “overwhelmingly fragile,” the Korean company intervened to get the article removed by pressuring the partner that provided iFixit with a device in the first place. iFixit hasn’t on the topic. The organization notes that its analysis “supported suspicions” that the device doesn’t properly or sufficiently protect its screen and that it removed its review to protect a relationship with its supplier, as opposed to due to legal action.
Intel held its Q1 2019 conference call yesterday. The company disclosed multiple significant pieces of news concerning how it expects the rest of 2019 to play out. The news is mixed overall. First, Intel doesn’t expect its CPU shortage to end in Q2 as originally expected. Intel CEO Bob Swan : Our supply constraints have had a disruptive impact on our customers and ecosystem. We’ve committed never again to be a constraint on our customers’ growth. We’ve increased capacity to improve our position in the second half, although product mix will continue to be a challenge in the third quarter as our teams align available supply with customer demand.
Ever since Intel announced that its 10nm process node would be delayed once more, there have been questions about exactly when the process would be introduced. Chipzilla has committed publicly to having 10nm hardware on shelves by the holiday season of 2019. A new roadmap leak would put the introduction date earlier, with limited quantities of 10nm chips available by Q2 of this year, but it also suggests that 14nm will be a large part of Intel’s product roadmap through 2020 and into 2021. These new leaks are courtesy of and are supposedly from an internal Dell presentation. As always, rumors are rumors and should be taken with a grain of salt.
We knew the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G was going to be expensive, given that the Galaxy S10e, S10, and S10+ start at $750, $900, and $1000, respectively. If you want a Galaxy S10 5G with 256GB of storage (the base model), Verizon will be happy to sell you one for the low, low price of $54.16 per month , or $1,300. If you want the 512GB version, you can pick that up for just $1,400, or ~$580 less than the Galaxy Fold.
