This Is How Earth Would Look to Alien Astronomers

This Is How Earth Would Look to Alien Astronomers
It has been less than 30 years since the discovery of the first , and we’re still in the dark when it comes to the possibility of life on any of them. Our techniques for finding other planets isn’t particularly sensitive, and we’re not even certain what signals we need to prioritize. A new study could shed light on that question by : Earth. The study comes from the California Institute of Technology’s Division of Geological and Planetary Sciences (GPS) and the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, led by graduate student Siteng Fan. The goal was to start with a planet we know supports life (Earth), and work backward to extrapolate what an alien looking in our direction might see.

While this discovery will likely shorten the timeframes required for finding cures for deadly illnesses, it can also bring us closer to threats of bioterrorism. Scientists at recently that removes one of the most significant limitations of the technology. Prior to this discovery, the process could only target a single gene for editing. The ETH scientists now managed to target 25 at once and believe that, theoretically, this method could target hundreds.

A new leak suggests that’s exactly what the company will do, with a new chipset supporting up to 10-core CPUs built on the company’s mature 14nm process. Now, there’s a word of a potential fourth player in the field, albeit it possibly in a more specialized area. Microsoft Makes It Easier to Bring DirectX 12 Games to Windows 7

Microsoft Makes It Easier to Bring DirectX 12 Games to Windows 7
When Microsoft launched Windows 10, it made its stance on DirectX 12 clear: Windows 10 would be the only OS that supported the company’s latest API, period. For years, the company stuck to this stance. Then, earlier this year, Microsoft announced that one game — World of Warcraft — would be allowed to take advantage of the DX12 API while running Windows 7. The reason for this allowance? Probably China. World of Warcraft has always had a huge Chinese following, and Blizzard’s decision to add DX12 support to WoW was a significant step for both the developer and the API.
