Nokia 9 PureView Launches in US March 3 on Sale for $600
Nokia unveiled its latest flagship smartphone at Mobile World Congress this week, and it’s already scheduled for a US release. The Nokia 9 PureView will hit store shelves on March 3, and there will be a special promotion to celebrate. For the first week, the Nokia 9 PureView will be $599.99 — that’s . The sale price is $200 lower than the Pixel 3 and $300 less than the Galaxy S10.
A few years back, it looked like we may never see another Nokia phone after Microsoft’s disastrous Windows Phone-fuelled acquisition of the company. However, the remainder of the newly formed HMD bought back the rights to the Nokia name in 2016 so it could produce Android-powered devices like the Nokia 6, Nokia 8, and now the Nokia 9 PureView.
The Nokia 9’s camera array includes five sensors, all of which are 12MP with f/1.8 lenses. There are two RGB cameras and three monochrome. Each time you take a photo, the Nokia 9 pulls in data from all five sensors. They have overlapping fields of view, giving the device about 60MP of image data to process into the final product. This takes a bit longer than processing on most phones, but the Nokia 9 PureView has a special ASIC (application-specific integrated circuit) chip inside to speed things along. You’ve probably noticed there are seven things on the back of the Nokia 9 — the other two are the flash and a time of flight sensor for capturing depth information.

The camera is Nokia’s primary selling point, but the rest of this phone’s specs are impressive, too. It has 128GB of storage, 6GB of RAM, and a 6-inch 1440p OLED display (with no notch!). It runs the previous-generation Snapdragon 845, but the Galaxy S10 will be the first phone to have the 855 on board. The Nokia 9 is an One phone, so it runs stock Android 9 Pie out of the box and will get guaranteed updates for two years.
You’ll be able to pick the Nokia 9 PureView up at the reduced price from all official retail channels. That includes Best Buy, Amazon, and B&H Photo. The sale runs from March 3rd to the 10th, at which time the price goes back up to $699.99. It’s GSM/LTE unlocked, so it will work on AT&T or T-Mobile in the US.
